I hope that everyone enjoyed playing in the snow this week! Due to the days missed we will continue with the same units next week.
During our language arts block we have been doing centers and guided reading. This week we learned why it is important for good readers to sequence the events in a story. We practiced sequencing while reading lots of fun books. We will continue to practice this very important skill next week. Please have your student practice reading daily. Raz-Kids is a great way to practice reading in addition to the guided reading books that are sent home.
This week in math, continued to practice counting mixed groups of coins and review addition and subtraction using the four-square problem solving strategy. We also learned about missing factors. Next week, we will continue practicing these important concepts. We have some more fun centers planned for the kids to practice place value, addition, subtraction, and money!
This week we continued learning about Geography by studying the compass rose, cardinal directions, and map skills. Next week, we will start to learn about Famous Americans George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing all the kids on Monday!
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
