Welcome to the 2015-2016 School Year!
We hope everyone had an enjoyable summer! We are looking forward to a great year in START! Classes will begin the week of Sept 14th.Third Grade START students will be receive services on Thursdays from10:00-11:30. During the school year, there are designated weeks that arenot service weeks due to testing, collaboration, etc. In addition,START times may need to be adjusted to accommodate grade levelactivities and/or holidays. Please see the school fusion calendar forthe first grade START calendar.
Each student who participates in the START Program must have a signedpermission form on file. Please complete the form and return it to yourchild’s teacher as soon as possible so he/she may participate in STARTclasses. No student will be allowed to attend START classes until apermission form has been returned
START Parent Back to School Night
Back to School Night will be held on Tuesday, October 6 at 6:00. Atthis time, we will share with you the goals of the START program andthe units that your child will be studying while in START this schoolyear. If you are unable to attend, the presentation will be available onschool fusion after October 6th. We hope to see you there. J
Differentiated Services Plan
Each child identified for the START Program will receive aDifferentiated Services Plan (DSP). This plan will be writtencollaboratively with your child’s classroom teacher. The plan willindicate how gifted education services will be provided for each childidentified.
Webquest & Kaleidoscopes
Studentswill begin a research unit by first solidifying their internet skills!Each student will be navigating through the World Wide Web byparticipating in a webquest! Planning, research, and presentation skillswill be the focus as students expand their cultural and geographicalknowledge of the world in the Cultural Kaleidoscopes unit. Students willuse money management skills to plan and visit countries all over theworld in search of information. Students will learn to use power pointand will present their research relating to the countries in which theytravel.
